FAIR GAME: Gender-equal Access to Movement and Exercise

Jul 26, 2026

The general objective of the FAIR GAME project is to create a network of local authorities and civil society organisations committed to ensuring accessibility to sport for women and girls. Each local authority works with a non-profit organisation to better identify barriers that prevent women from participating in sports and physical activities. The network will strengthen the European dimension of the project, in particular to share best practices in different aspects of women’s involvement in sport in their contexts and to design pilot actions to promote girls and women’s right to access physical activity in their lives. Each event is organised to foster a bottom-up participation of citizens through consultation and participatory processes, strengthening the role and presence of local institutions in the lives of citizens, and instilling a stronger sense of responsibility among them in a more democratic union. Furthermore, the Networks of Towns will give local authorities and CSOs the possibility to deepen and intensify their cooperation and debate, develop sustainable and gender-sensitive networks and outline their long-term vision for the future of European integration and for the well-being of respective communities.

Specifically, the project creates a network of cities united with each other in promoting gender equality in access to sports activity and sports through local discussions, sharing of best practices and the production of appropriate policies.

The project is led by the Komuna e Pejës as the lead partner, in cooperation with: Local Democracy Agency of Kosovo , Provincia di Vicenza , Vicenza Calcio Femminile , ALDA – European Association for Local Democracy , Gradska uprava Zavidovići , ALD Zavidovici , Município de Macedo de Cavaleiros , Associação de Futebol de Bragança, Grad Zagreb , Sportski savez Grada Zagreba (SSGZ), Општина Карпош , and TAKT – Together Advancing Common Trust.
